The prime minister of Tibetan government-in-exile, Lobsang Sangay, on Thursday expressed shock at the figure of acts of self-immolation by monks in the autonomous region of China.

Sangay sought the United Nations’ intervention to undertake the issue and appealed to the world media to draw larger attention to the Tibetans’ struggle. He invited the international community to send a team to examine the realities in Tibet.

“The United Nations, international community and media should send fact finding delegations because the Chinese government, instead of admitting the failures of their policies, divert the story,” he said.
